On what grounds, then, would something be unworthy, not of God’s image—for the soul’s substance differs from the flesh’s—but of the perishable servant of God’s image, when it was not unworthy of God himself to create it? God made bodies; God distinguished their sexes; God made the reproductive organs; God implanted the feeling through which these bodies unite; God also gave power to seeds; God works in nature’s hidden places from the material of seeds. But God makes nothing evil and nothing guilty.
