Just as we received God’s image through the reason of the mind (compare Genesis 1:26–27), so we experience our kinship with cattle through the affinity of the flesh. Although its form differs, its substance, drawn from the material of the elements, is one. Our flesh will indeed see eternity according to the merits of the rational soul: either miserable in suffering or glorious in rewards.
