Victorinus of Pettau — On the Creation of the World (sixth day)
On the fifth day land and water brought forth their young. On the sixth day the things still lacking were created; and so God formed the human being from the soil as lord of all he had made on land and water. Yet he created angels and archangels before he fashioned the human, putting spiritual things before earthly ones. For light was before heaven and earth. This sixth day is called parasceve — preparation of the kingdom. He completed Adam after his image and likeness. For that reason he finished his works before he created the angels and fashioned the human, lest they falsely claim they had been his helpers.
