Logos 27 opening: only true God (Jn 17:3)
Twenty-seventh discourse. On “that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you sent.”
“Only true God” of the Father is not taken as denial of the Son’s natural deity.

ΛΟΓΟΣ ΚΖʹ. Εἰς τὸ, Ἵνα γινώσκωσί σε τὸν μόνον ἀληθινὸν Θεὸν, καὶ ὃν ἀπέστειλας Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν. Ἀντίθεσις ὡς ἐκ τῶν αἱρετικῶν. Ἰδοὺ, φασὶν, αὐτὸς ὁ Υἱὸς μόνον εἶναι Θεὸν ἀληθινὸν ὁμολογεῖ τὸν Πατέρα, καὶ αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ Πατὴρ εὑρίσκεται λέγων· Ἐγὼ Θεὸς πρῶτος, καὶ ἐγὼ μετὰ ταῦτα· καὶ οὐκ ἔστι Θεὸς πλὴν ἐμοῦ. Πῶς οὖν ὑμεῖς συνεισάγετε πρώτῳ καὶ μόνῳ καὶ κατ' ἀλήθειαν ὄντι Θεῷ καὶ Πατρὶ τὸν Υἱὸν, ὡς ὄντα καὶ αὐτὸν κατὰ φύσιν Θεόν; Πρὸς τοῦτο λύσις.
