Lord, not in your fury — rebuke vs wrath§1

1 O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger. Verbal rebuke is lighter; refuse the teacher’s yoke and God’s wrath chastises more heavily.

Domine ne in furore tuo arguas me. Reprehensio verbo fit; qui iugo praeceptoris non subditur ira Dei castigatur — castigatio reprehensione molestior.
