“And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

The question tests Martha and, through her, every believer.

Καὶ πᾶς ὁ ζῶν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. πιστεύεις τοῦτο;

Ἡ ἐρώτησις δοκιμάζει τὴν Μάρθαν καὶ δι᾽ αὐτῆς πάντα πιστεύοντα.
