Does this man dare to say he does not condemn marriage, to mock uneducated ears with such wickedness, and to claim that he has withdrawn from Manichaeus’s company? By repeated professions he places the union of the sexes, the act of marriage, and the parents’ feeling and sensation within the devil’s kingdom. Adding the help of his own sharpness to these Manichaean inventions, he pronounces the union devilish, located in both the act and the flesh of the married couple. Yet because of it he assigns the innocent to the devil’s kingdom, while acquitting those who perform the act! Always hostile to God in this way, he defends those who, according to him, serve the devil through lust.
