To Florus 2.50

Both expressions are customary. Sometimes a person envies because he has imitated the devil; sometimes, by copying a human being, he is stained with envy or the filth of shameful conduct. The word ‘imitation’ can therefore apply to either person, whether one is speaking of a human being or of the devil. Your insistence that Adam could not have been indicated in connection with imitation is ridiculously foolish.
