He thus showed grace to be praiseworthy if what he said applied to it fully: ‘The judgment was from one to condemnation, but grace is from many offenses to justification’ (Romans 5:16). By what license, then, will you rob Christ’s grace of the praise with which the apostle wished it proclaimed? Will you cast down the title of dignity through which alone the chosen vessel wished its honor to be recognized (allusion to Acts 9:15)?
