Name of Jesus drives out Satan; heavenly wisdom saves
By invocation of the name of Jesus Christ, crucified under Pontius Pilate, Satan has been driven from human beings; and wherever one of those who believe in him and invoke him while doing his will — Jesus draws near, presents himself, and grants the requests of those who address him with a pure heart. (Mk 16:17; Jn 14:13-14; Acts 3:6)
Receiving salvation thus, we praise God without ceasing, who by his infinite, unsearchable, inscrutable wisdom has saved us and from heaven announced salvation to us — namely the visible coming of our Lord, that is, his human life. (Rom 11:33; 1 Tim 3:16)
We could not procure this grace by ourselves; yet what is impossible for human beings is possible for God. (Lk 18:27) Therefore Jeremiah says: ‘Who has gone up to heaven and taken her, and brought her down from the clouds? Who has crossed the sea and, having found her, brought her back at the price of finest gold? There is no one who knows her way or thinks of her path. But he who knows all things knows her… and has given her to Jacob his servant and to Israel his beloved. Afterward she appeared on earth and lived among human beings.’ (Bar 3:29-38)
This is Wisdom who was with the Father, who appeared on earth and lived among us — the Word made flesh — so that the human being might become after God’s image and likeness again. (Jn 1:14; Gen 1:26)
