And after they had lifted Jesus on the cross, when he asked for drink, they gave him vinegar mixed with gall. And that too was foretold by David: ‘They gave me gall for food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.’ (Ps 69:21; Mt 27:34; Jn 19:28-30)
