Garments divided; seamless tunic by lot
David says again: ‘They examined me; they divided my garments among them, and for my robe they cast lots.’ (Ps 22:18; Jn 19:23-24)
For after crucifying him the soldiers, according to custom, divided his clothes. To make that division they tore his garments. But his tunic, since it was put on from above and was seamless, they cast lots for, so as to give it to the one to whom it fell.
