The spiritual sense: the kiss is union of Word and soul; the breasts are the teachings of both Testaments; wine is the killing letter; ointment is the Spirit and the preaching of Jesus’ name; drawing is grace; chambers are contemplation; equity is purity of heart without iniquity. Whoever is not yet fit for these remains a young woman and follows the fragrance until she receives the perfect kiss.
