Beginning and first
This distinction of the first and the beginning Jacob too, when he had become Israel, used when blessing Reuben, speaking thus: "Reuben, my firstborn and my strength and beginning of my children." For he knows both that he is firstborn and that he is beginning of his children.

Ταύτην τὴν διαίρεσιν τοῦ πρώτου καὶ τῆς ἀρχῆς καὶ Ἰακὼβ ὁ Ἰ(σρα)ὴλ γενόμενος εὐλογῶν τὸν Ῥουβὴν ἔλεγεν οὕτως· "Ῥουβὴν πρωτότοκός μου καὶ ἰσχύς μου καὶ ἀρχὴ τέκνων μου"· οἶδεν γὰρ|| καὶ πρωτότοκον αὐτὸν ὄντα καὶ ἀρχὴν τέκνων αὐτοῦ ὑπάρχοντα.
