Beginning and first
For since he has never built, when he builds, then he builds for the first time. He has not built another house before this one. Yet even if this house he is building is first, it has, along with being first, a beginning as well — so that the beginning is taken of the foundation, while the first it has because he is building this for the first time.

Ἐπεὶ γὰρ οὐδέποτε ᾠκ[οδό]μησεν, ὅτε οἰκοδομε[ῖ, τό]τε πρώτως οἰκοδομεῖ[· ἄλ]λην γὰρ πρὸ ταύτης οἰκία[ν ο]ὐκ ᾠκοδόμησεν. Ἔχει μέν[τ]οι, εἰ καὶ πρώτη ἐστὶν αὕ[τη], ἣν οἰκοδομεῖ οἰκίαν, μ[ετὰ] τοῦ π[ρ]ώτην αὐτὴν ε[ἶναι] κ[αὶ] ἀρχὴν {ἔχει}, ἵνα ἡ μὲν [ἀρχ]ὴ [ἐπὶ] τοῦ θεμελίου λαμβ[άνηται, τὸ] δὲ πρῶ[τ]ον ἔ[χει ὅτι ταύτη]ν πρώτως ο[ἰκοδομεῖ.]
