Shoes on the feet
But these things are not at war. They are taken according to one thought and another. For when someone treads holy ground, he is commanded to have no deadness in himself, no longer about to cover any deadness of his. But when he chews the Passover, he is commanded to eat in haste for the sake of being ready, as the apostle also teaches, saying: "Having shod your feet in readiness of the gospel."

Ἀλλὰ ταῦτα οὐ μαχόμενά ἐστιν, ἑτέρας δὲ καὶ ἑτέρας ἐπινοίας λαμβανόμενα· ὅτε γὰρ ἁγίαν τις πατεῖ γῆν, οὐδεμίαν νεκρότητα ἐν αὐτῷ ἔχειν κελεύεται οὐδέτι μέλλων αὐτοῦ νεκρότητά τινα περικαλύπτειν, ὅτε δὲ τρώγει τὸ πάσχα, κελεύεται μετὰ σπουδῆς ἐσθίειν ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἕτοιμος εἶναι, ὡς καὶ ὁ ἀπόστολος διδάσκει λέγων· "Ὑποδησάμενοι τοὺς πόδας ὑμῶν ἐν ἑτοιμασίᾳ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου".
