You do the works of your father
You say, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, God.” Jesus said, “If God were your Father, you would love me.”
“You do the works of your father” shows another father, whose works they seek to imitate.

Εἴπατε ὑμεῖς· Ἡμεῖς ἐκ πορνείας οὐ γεγεννήμεθα· ἕνα πατέρα ἔχομεν τὸν θεόν. εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Εἰ ὁ θεὸς πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἦν, ἠγαπᾶτε ἂν ἐμέ.
Τὸ δὲ ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν δηλοῖ πατέρα ἄλλον, οὗ τὰ ἔργα ζητοῦσιν μιμεῖσθαι.
