Homilies on Isaiah, Homilia VI · §2

Why hearing without understanding

Why see and not perceive; hear and not understand? A fat heart, dull ears, shut eyes — judgment that still aims at healing when they turn.

Latin

Quae causa est audientem non intelligere et videntem non videre? Incrassatum cor, aures graves, oculi clausi — iudicium et misericordia Dei circa populum.
