Deuteronomy: second law; prophecies of Christ and nations
When the forty years were ended, the people came near the Jordan and, gathering together, pitched camp opposite Jericho. (Num 22:1; Dt 1:1-5) There Moses assembled the multitude and recapitulated all that had happened. He told the wonders God had done until then — how he had raised up those who had multiplied in the wilderness and formed them to fear God and keep his commandments.
All this became for them a kind of new legislation, added to what they had before. This is what is called Deuteronomy, which holds many prophecies concerning our Lord Jesus Christ, concerning the people of Israel, concerning the calling of the Gentiles, and concerning the kingdom. (prophet like Moses; Acts 3:22-23)
