Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching · §12

Man still a child; Paradise prepared; Word walks with him

Now God made the human being master of the earth and of all that it contains; he also established him specially as master of those beings who were to serve him. But while these latter were in their full strength, the master — that is, the human being — was still small; he was a child who must necessarily grow in order to reach his perfection.

That he might live and grow in joy and well-being, God had prepared for him the best region of the world as to air, beauty, light, food, plants, fruits, and waters; nothing was lacking of what suits the needs of life. And this place was named Paradise. (garden in Eden)

And so Paradise was fair and good. The Word of God went there every day, walking about, conversing with the human being of things to come, and applying himself above all to make him understand that he would dwell and converse with him, and that he would remain with human beings to teach them righteousness. (walked in the garden; Word became flesh / dwell)

But the human being was a child; he did not yet have the perfect use of his faculties, and so he was easily deceived by the seducer.
