Cap. X Ultimum open: absolute predestination/preterition from mere divine good pleasure is not Augustine’s private opinion but received by anti-Pelagian councils — against Arminius/Corvinus

We now propose our last argument: to show that this teaching—the predestination of some and preterition of others from the mere good pleasure of the divine will, with no prior regard to opposite human acts, good or evil—was not some private opinion of Augustine or his disciples, but received and approved by the councils held against Pelagius and the Semipelagians. We do this because Arminius, Corvinus, and the other innovators boldly claim our doctrine was approved in no council—not even those against Pelagius. Yet certain premises must first be laid down.

Latin

Huic tamen argumento quaedam sunt a nobis necessario praemittenda.
