Cap. 7 Rat. 11: equal divine efficacy left to human will is near-Pelagian

Ratio 11. We must reject any view that is the same as—or at least close kin to—the condemned Pelagian dogma. Those who hold that on God’s will and intention Christ’s death stands equally efficacious toward all, while on the human will’s side it happens that in the event it becomes fruitful for some, come as near Pelagius as can be. The orthodox, roused by Pelagius to weigh this carefully, have always taught against him that fruitful application of Christ’s merits hangs on the grace of predestination, by which faith and even the good will itself are mercifully given to some and, by God’s just judgment, denied to others.

Latin

Rat. 11.
