I would call you an honor for the whole world, and the pride of the holy churches of Christ our common Savior — his brides, most pious and God-loved queens. The many-colored beauty of virtue flashes on you, a beauty sweet and plain to the eyes of the Godhead. Study and zeal have already brought it to pass. What remains is to shine by a right faith that nothing shakes.
Somewhere the wise Paul writes — truly learned in the law, and the one who served as priest of Christ’s mystery among the nations — “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”
For where right and spotless faith keeps step with the boasts that come from good works, and the two enter on equal footing,
