Matthew 21:1–3
He says the disciples are two — that is, apostles and evangelists — who became Christ’s co-workers and servants for this. Or he also means angels who serve Christ for our ransom, “ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” And if the one who bound them with the cords of sins asks, “What are you doing?” still, unable to withstand the Savior’s words, he will fall silent — not willingly, because of the excess of power. In this the call is shown to be divine.
