On Adoration and Worship in Spirit and Truth, Book 9 · §32

Bezalel = Christ from Judah; Eliab = apostles; Amen

Cyril: …tribe of Judah, and I filled him with divine Spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge. And in every work to understand the gold, and the silver, and the bronze, and the hyacinth, and the purple, and the spun scarlet, and the twisted linen, and the stone-works, and unto the carpenter works of the woods to work according to all the works. And I have also given him, and Eliab of Ahisamach, from tribe of Dan, and to every understanding heart I have given understanding, and they will make all things whatever I have arranged.’ Look then already how Bezalel leads the craft-works, and Eliab works.

Palladius: What then is this at least?

Cyril: You will learn then already; Judah and Dan, both from Jacob, but the one from the free woman Leah, and the other from the maidservant Bilhah. So then a type also clear is Bezalel of Christ who has appeared for us from tribe of Judah according to flesh, and from a nature truly free—clearly the divine and uppermost. And Eliab would hint very well those who have worked with Christ as from the slave woman Jerusalem—apostles and evangelists; for they have become fellow-workers of God all but laboring and crafting the things unto constitution of the holy Churches. And all the understanding in heart were bringing together the things from their own eagerness and fairness unto the works of the tent, fulfilling images of the teachers according to times, for whom in eagerness and care is working the things of God, and whatever would finish unto benefit of the Church of Christ; to him the glory unto the ages of the ages, Amen (Exodus 31:1–6) (Hebrews 7:14) (Galatians 4:22–26) (1 Corinthians 3:9).
