On Adoration and Worship in Spirit and Truth, Book 11 · §18

Obedient unto death; second ram blood on ear/hand/foot; test the spirits

Cyril: …has subjected himself to God and Father. ‘For he has become obedient until death,’ (Philippians 2:8) wiping out the charges of the from-Adam desertion, and of the well-persuadedness the fragrance as for all together and for each he has brought forward to God and Father, and through him we have been saved; and witness is Paul having written thus: ‘So then, as through one trespass unto all humans unto condemnation, so also through one righteous-deed unto all humans unto justification of life; for just as through the disobedience of the one human the many were set down sinners, so through the obedience of the one human the many will be set down righteous.’ (Romans 5:18–19) So then you understand that we have been saved as at least in the calf, with Christ having died for us, and we are fragrant to God and Father through his subjection and the life in sanctification; for the blood of the ram was being held toward the holy altar.

Palladius: I understand what you say.

Cyril: And many-manneredly molding the same for us as in shadows: And you will take, he says, the second ram… fighting, and leading-out against the dogmas of uprightness; for this is a fruit of the holy hearing. And indeed John the all-divine somehow says thus for us: ‘Brothers, test the spirits, if it is from God; every spirit which does not confess Jesus Christ is not from God, and every spirit which confesses Jesus Christ is from God.’ (Exodus 29:19–20) And a test of words would reasonably be practiced not otherwise rather than unto an ear. So then holy (1 John 4:1–3) (Romans 5:19) (1 John 4:1)
