Book 11 opens: priesthood; legal type of priesthood in Christ

ON ADORATION AND WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH — BOOK ELEVEN. Concerning priesthood, and that according to law it was a type of the one in Christ.

Cyril: Concerning the tent at least and the things oracled upon it, a word sufficient for us very well and gracefully polished unto spiritual thinness has been finished. And it would be fitting, as at least it seems to me—and you yourself also will somehow agree, I know—to take hold of the honors of priesthood, and again in what manner through the one in type and according to law the true is signified—that is, the one in Christ and through him sanctifying the sacred race, and I mean again those who have been flashed in faith, and who have been enriched with intimacy unto God, through at least having shared holy Spirit.

Palladius: For it would be fitting and very reasonably.

Cyril: So then with the holy tent having been completed in fitting beauty, and having been brought into the form shown on the mountain to all-divine Moses, God was making the showing-forth of the priests, and indeed also was saying, ‘And you bring toward yourself both Aaron your brother and his sons from (Exodus 28:1)

{ΚΥΡ.} Σκηνῆς μὲν δὴ πέρι καὶ τῶν ἐπ' αὐτῇ κεχρησμῳδημένων, ἀποχρῶν ἡμῖν εὖ μάλα καὶ ἀστείως ἀπεξεσμένος εἰς ἰσχνότητα τὴν πνευματικὴ ἐκπεποίηται λόγος. Πρέποι δ' ἂν, ὥς γέ μοι φαίνεται, συνερεῖς δέ που καὶ αὐτὸς, οἶδ' ὅτι, τῶν ἱερωσύνης ἅψασθαι γερῶν, τίνα τε αὖ τὸν τρόπον διὰ τῆς ἐν τύπῳ καὶ κατὰ νόμον ἡ ἀληθὴς σημαίνεται, τοῦτ' ἔστιν, ἡ ἐν Χριστῷ τε καὶ δι' αὐτοῦ τὸ ἱερὸν ἁγιάζουσα γένος, φημὶ δὲ δὴ πάλιν τοὺς ἐν πίστει λελαμπρυσμένους, καὶ τὴν εἰς Θεὸν οἰκειότητα πεπλουτηκότας, διά γε τοῦ μεταλαχεῖν ἁγίου Πνεύματος.

{ΚΥΡ.} Ἀποτελεσθείσης δὴ οὖν ἐν κόσμῳ τῷ πρέποντι τῆς ἁγίας σκηνῆς, καὶ εἰς εἶδος ἐνηνεγμένης τὸ ἐν τῷ ὄρει παραδειχθὲν τῷ θεσπεσίῳ Μωσῇ, τὴν τῶν ἱερέων ἀνάδειξιν ἐποιεῖτο Θεὸς, καὶ δὴ καὶ ἔφασκε, «Καὶ σὺ προσαγάγου πρὸς ἑαυτὸν τόν τε Ἀαρὼν τὸν ἀδελφόν σου καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐκ
