Judah east in light; free before slave-born; Christ-order leads—Amen
Cyril: …according to their ranks.’ You see that Judah and those with him have been ordered first, and he has the choice place the toward dawn and south? for in light are those in Christ, and boiling with the spirit. Second Reuben, and those with him. And third again those from free woman. Then after these other three, those from servant-girls, concerning whom has been said the, ‘Last will lift.’ (Numbers 2:9) So then is it not clear and from nowhere doubtful, that the second of the firstborn has been preferred and called-in beforehand—that is, the in Christ, and of those from slavery the free in faith? For these lead through the Christ from Judah; and those come behind scarcely, and have been set as in a second order.
Palladius: Most uprightly have you spoken; and I would praise you of the thus subtle sharpness.
Cyril: To God be the glory unto the ages of the ages, Amen (Numbers 2:31) (Romans 8:15) (Revelation 7:5).
