Twelve-day gifts = Christ offered daily; calf/ram/lamb/goat types; Church rests on Christ
Cyril: …both full of fine flour having been mixed in oil unto sacrifice, one spoon of ten golds, full of incense, one calf from cattle, one ram, one yearling lamb unto whole-burnt-offering. And one kid from goats concerning sin; and unto a sacrifice of salvation two heifers, five rams, five he-goats, five yearling ewe-lambs. This gift of Naasson son of Aminadab.’ And they were also bringing forward in succession as far as the twelfth, according at least to the equal manner and in indistinguishable ambitions, each one’s specifically arranged day having been distributed; for God was typing thus.
Palladius: And what then is the word of the thus many-formed bringing-forward?
Cyril: So then the matter is fruit-bearing, O Palladius, and a mystical word has also been woven for it, I think, carrying the riddle up unto Emmanuel, and unto us ourselves; and I will speak again as I am able. For when the holy and true tent has been shown in this world—that is, the Church—Christ conspicuous in it many-formedly and all but from us and for us is brought forward as a sacred victim to God and Father, a ransom and exchange of the life of all, one worth-all. For when the Only-begotten has become human as one from us, he has brought himself forward to God and Father, as some firstfruit and firstling of the human nature fragrant in sanctification, existing naturally and essentially, according as he is thought and is God, and again having been mixed in through the human. And being one also himself, he was being written according to many manners, as at least in the bringing-forward of the rulers, and Christ is as it were also now being sacrificed, being thought many-manneredly through the leaders according to times, and having been honored with differing names; and a bringing-forward according to day, the matter hinting the as-it-were unfailing and unceasing of Christ’s sacrifice in every day and the fruit-bearing in it of those justified in faith. For the worshippers will not fail, nor will there be scarcity of gift-bearing; and Christ will be brought forward toward us and for us, being sacrificed mystically in the holy tents. And he himself is our first and exceptional fruit-bearing; for he has brought himself forward unto sacrifice to the Father, and not rather for himself, according to the word holding blamelessly, but for us under yoke and writing of sin. And according to likeness the toward him, we also are sacred victims, dying to world, as sin has been put-to-death in us, and living to God, the life in sanctification and holiness. For these things the bringing-forward of the rulers seems to hint for us, which also examining part by part with the fitting reasonings, how it would hold well for us, do you wish we say according to what is possible?
Palladius: And very much.
Cyril: So then a calf has been brought forward from each; and the wagons, being six in number, have been distributed to the sacred works of the holy tent. Then from (Numbers 7:13–17) (Romans 12:1) (Hebrews 10:12–14) (Romans 6:11) (Hebrews 10:12)
