Of Africanus: to soothe inflammations of the feet and of other parts. Having first soaked seven dates in sweet wine until they become soft, rub them with sufficient rose-oil as smoothly as possible. Then, having boiled a little equal parts of wax, fresh hog's fat, and bread-crumbs with rose-oil, pour them over the smoothed dates; having united them in a mortar, make the mixture wet as a plaster, and having applied it you will take the inflammation away at once.
