Commodian — Instructiones 43 (first resurrection)

Commodian · Instructiones · c. 250

From heaven the city descends in the first resurrection. And what should we report of so great a heavenly fabric? We rise to it who were devoted to it, and they will already then be incorrupt, living without death, but neither any pain nor groan will be in it. Those also will come who conquer under Antichrist with strong martyrdoms, and they themselves live the whole time and receive goods, because they suffered evils.

Latin

43 DE RESURRECTIONE PRIMA. De caelo descendit ciuitas in anastase prima. Et quod referamus de fabrica tanta caeleste? Resurgimus illi, qui fuimus illi deuoti, Et incorrupti erint iam tunc sine morte uiuentes, Sed nec dolor ullus nec gemitus erit in illa. Uenturi sunt illi quoque, sub Antechristo qui uincunt Robusta mar<tyr>ia, et ipsi toto tempore uiuunt Recipiuntque bona, quoniam mala passi fuere, Et generant ipsi per annos mille nubentes. Conparantur ibi tota uectigalia terrae, Terra quia nimium fundit sine fine nouata. Malus in angore saeptus propter iustos alendos. Ab annis autem mille Deus omnia portat.
